Woman Shot And Killed Outside Indy Hotel After Domestic Dispute

A domestic disturbance outside an Indianapolis hotel led to the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old woman. The shooter surrendered to police and was released while the prosecutor’s office investigates the case.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (2-minute read) — A 23-year-old woman, Chasidy Hahn, was shot and killed outside a hotel on the west side of Indianapolis in what police say was a domestic disturbance that spiraled out of control. The incident took place around 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Red Roof Inn on South Lynhurst Drive.

The hotel’s manager, Ram Singh, recounted that Hahn had checked in earlier that day with a young child, following a drive from North Carolina with a man known to her. Surveillance footage reportedly captured an argument between two men who knew Hahn. During the confrontation, Hahn appeared to brandish a firearm, at which point one of the men shot her.

The shooter initially fled the scene but later surrendered to police, giving his account of the event. Despite turning himself in, he was released pending a full investigation by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities have yet to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

Police confirmed that there had been no prior history of violence at this Red Roof Inn, although the area has seen violent incidents before. Earlier this year, a shooting at a nearby Waffle House claimed the life of a woman and injured several others.

As the investigation continues, the focus now shifts to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, which will ultimately decide whether charges will be pressed in Hahn’s death.

Safety Tip: If you are involved in or witness a domestic dispute, prioritize de-escalation and seek outside help. Avoid carrying or displaying firearms during heated arguments, as the situation can quickly become dangerous.
