A robbery attempt in San Antonio ended with the intended victim defending himself by shooting two armed suspects, who are now hospitalized. The San Antonio Police Department continues to investigate the incident.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (2-minute read) — Two men were shot early Sunday morning in San Antonio after attempting to rob a 34-year-old man who defended himself with a firearm. The incident, which occurred around 3:51 a.m. on August 25, is currently under investigation by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

According to a recent update from SAPD, the two men who were shot had approached the 34-year-old with the intent to rob him. However, the would-be victim, who was armed, responded by drawing his handgun and firing at the assailants. The confrontation left one suspect with a gunshot wound to the head and the other with a wound to the hip. Both suspects were transported to the hospital for treatment, with the man shot in the head in critical condition.

When officers arrived at the scene on the 200 block of Ranch Valley, they discovered one of the suspects lying on the ground with a critical gunshot wound to the head. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) swiftly transported him to the hospital. During the initial investigation, officers learned that a second man had also been hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the hip, which was later confirmed to be linked to the same incident.

While no arrests have been made so far, the SAPD emphasizes that the investigation is ongoing. Incidents like this highlight the importance of understanding the legal aspects of self-defense and the responsibility that comes with carrying a firearm. In Texas, individuals have the right to defend themselves with lethal force if they reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent serious harm or death. However, it is crucial to understand the laws and exercise this right with caution.

Safety Tip: Always ensure that your firearm is securely stored when not in use, and consider taking a certified firearms safety course to stay informed about the latest self-defense laws in your area.
